I really want to pursue a career in financial services as it's something my mum has done for years. I’ve always spoken to a mum about her job and she’s always come home with such great stories about how she sort of helped clients and you know, found money they didn’t realise they had or just helped them in difficulties. And it’s always given her so much joy and reward. So I've always thought, you know, that is the sort of path I want to go down. I want to follow my mum’s footsteps. She’s such an inspiration to me. Experience that I already have and that I think will sort of be valuable in my financial career, would be the fact that I have done so much customer service. I mean, for years I've worked front face, front facing of house. The only courses and academies that I’d heard about, were sort of fee paying and university courses, which I wasn't so interested in because I don’t want to be starting in a career, maybe in my late twenties, thirties and, you know, holding and all that debt from having an education. I want to join the Academy because obviously I still have a full time job. I didn’t have to pay for the course, it wasn’t something where I’d have to leave home and sort of travel miles and miles away from everything I've ever known. And then obviously on top of that, be doling out loads of money that I've borrowed. So yeah, it fits in really well with my day to day life. I can set up full time job, I can still see my friends and I can study on my part time, which I mean, I don’t think I could find anything more suited to me. Well enjoyed the most and sort of, being able to expand my knowledge on something on a topic that I’ve always been interested about but never really delved that deep into it. And now I’m sort of getting to terms and I’m understanding the things my mum told me. And, you know, it’s always great you go have conversations with people and suddenly your knowledge is, you know, more than it was before. I'm surprised with the amount of support that I've been given. One of the Business Development Managers, his name is James Brunning. He has just been absolutely fantastic and, you know, pushing me and just making me believe in myself, which you know, I couldn't be more thankful for. I've had so much support. So, yeah, I am surprised about how many people sort of believe in me and believe that I can do this. And it’s been it’s been lovely to sort of hear this feedback. And it's really driven me to, you know, want to continue on with the course and finish it. The next big step after qualifying, I’d say would be to go into the office with my mum. Working alongside her and her sort of showed me all the ropes. Although I would have, you know, qualified and done all the study paper is much different real life. So getting that life experience and sort of work experience for my mum, in the first year would be great. And then after that, the next big step would be to take the business on my own. You know, doing everything from myself, client meetings, reports, so yeah just really hopeful for that. And then hopefully, it’ll just continue on. If you are thinking about applying for the Academy, you know, there’s no better time than now. I’d say go for it. You could be fully qualified within a year, as long as you put your head down. And keep studying. But the fact that the Academy is the best choice for me is the fact that I can earn my own money, working a full time job, as well as having this study and this extra curricular on the side, it’s given my life a lot more, you know, purpose and meaning as well. I couldn’t thank everybody enough at M&G Wealth because they’ve made me believe in myself, more than I thought I ever could.
